Aerial Boom Lift
This Course has been divided into two sections to ensure that proper and adequate training has been conducted
Section 1 reviews theory and responsibilities to the participants. A test will be conducted upon completion of course.
Section 2 consists of an on site evaluation which will verify the individuals ability to operate a specific lift, in a safe manner.
Theory and Responsibilities
The reason for Scissor Lift Certification
To provide all participants a general understanding of the safe and efficient operation of a Power Operated Mobile Work Platforms and the duties that are taken upon all parties that may be associated with the use of an aerial lift.
UPON COMPLETION OF THIS SECTION ALL PARTICIPANTS WILL BE ABLE TO IDENTIFY SPECIFIC HEALTH AND SAFETY HAZARDS ASSOCIATED WITH OPERATING SCISSOR LIFTS / BOOM LIFT.
Scissor Lift / Boom Lift Course outline:
Review of all parties responsibilities. owner, supervisor, user
Complete review of fall protection reviewing what is required when operating a lift.
Review load capabilities, safety decals, and specific equipment requirements.
Pre-shift equipment inspection and work area inspection -- what is required and how to conduct them.
Review site specific Hazards, and controls for safe operation of a Man lift.
A Test is required to complete the class and to move on to the practical portion
How long does aerial lift certification take?
This section of the course will take approximately 2 hours to conduct.
Where is the training conducted?
Training can be held at the convenience of the employers
Practical Evaluation
All operators must successfully complete the theoretical portion of this program prior to being evaluated on site-specific equipment.
Each individual will be tested to ensure they can safely and efficiently operate your site-specific equipment.
Evaluations will be completed during regular working shifts, wherever possible. On successful completion of both parts of this program the participant will be certified as a
"Power Operated Mobile Platform (Aerial Lift) Operator."
Course outline:
Uses proper personal protective equipment as required by legislation and respective employer.
Operates lift only when all necessary inspections and hazards have been addressed
Shows the ability to solve hazard problems when operating a lift
Use and proper fall protection system.
Aware of the manufacturers specs for specific equipment (load limits, etc.).
Uses spotter where required.
Lift mobilizes only when the unit is in fully lowered position.
All required emergency preparedness and safety documentation is stored on the lift platform.
How long does it take?
Practical evaluations take approximately 4 hours to conduct, and are done in the presence of a company supervisor.
Do you issue forklift cards?
Yes, we will issue a aerial lift operator certification card upon passing and completion of both sections in this course.
